Introduction to Oils

So, just exactly what are essential oils?  They are natural aromatic compounds found in the seeds, bark, stem, roots, flowers and other parts of plants. Even though they are oils, they are not oily.  They are very clean almost crisp to the touch and immediately absorbed by the skin.  To get an idea of what an essential oils is, squeeze the peel of a ripe orange, that fragrant residue that’s left on your hand is full of essential oils.
However, essential oils can do more than just smell good, a good pure quality essential oil  can help support overall health and wellness, and can be used for a wide variety of physical and emotional wellness applications.
There are three basic methods for using essential oils, you can diffuse them aromatically, they can be applied topically to the skin, or they can be taken internally as dietary supplements. A word of caution as far as taking them internally, do not use any essential oil supplement that does not have the appropriate dietary supplement facts sheet on the label.
Essential oils have been used throughout recorded history for a variety of wellness applications, and the modern use of essential oils has continued as medical practitioners and health scientists continue to research and validate the many health and wellness benefits of essential oils.
Using essential oils can be so simple, and yet can have such life changing effects.  If you are new to essential oils, working with someone who has used them before can help you to have a more enjoyable and beneficial experience.  There are many resources available to instruct you on the many benefits and uses of essential oils, but the best teacher is experience, so just start using them!
